Accomplishing My Goals
Three years ago, I moved, from Maryland, back to Georgia. The first few months I went through a lot of changes. I moved back into my family home after living alone. I started working in a new place. And I started dating a fantastic guy!
Before moving back home, I had plans on how I wanted the next year to go. I had projects that needed to be completed, before the end of the year, and goals that needed to be met. I decided to host a ‘Goals Night’ Party for myself and my family!
That December, the weekend after Christmas (that way the house was already decorated lol), I printed out worksheets, wrote down affirmations, and planned games for us to play during ‘Goals Night’. We each took a piece of paper from a hat, that had the affirmation written on it, and that was our statement for the year. We went around and shared some of our intentions for the upcoming year and noted our accomplishments from that current year. We ate, drank, laughed, and enjoyed the PositiveVibess.
That next year, I accomplished all of the goals that I wrote down on ‘Goals Night’, including being PUBLISHED in PRINT! I realized writing down my goals, having an accountability partner, and seeing my goals on the wall everyday really pushed me to get everything done. Some opportunities just fell into my lap, but I still had to do the work! I realized just how important my thoughts are. Keep a positive attitude and believe that you can accomplish your goals!
‘Goals Night’ is an event that I came up with three years ago to inspire positivity and growth amongst my family and friends. It is for anyone who seeks positive change in their life and has no problem being held accountable for their actions.
I always hosted our ‘Goals Night’ Party in my family home, but after last years turnout, I realized I needed a larger venue. This year, due to the pandemic, I will not be hosting a ‘Goals Night’ Party, but I did create my own ‘Goals Night’ Worksheets for anyone who would like to engage in this activity.
While it’s become the social norm to create your goals closer to the new calendar year, it is not a rule. You can host your own ‘Goals Night’ Party any time of the year, and you can change or add to your goals at any point you see fit! I know I have!
I think activities like this are extremely necessary. It keeps us from being stagnant and allows positive energy to flow. You never know who around you needs an extra push. Sometimes you don’t even realize that you’re the one who needed it!
The last thing I will say in regards to writing down your goals, is to BE INTENTIONAL! One of my goals for 2020 was to ‘Do More Writing’. I was thinking about my book of short stories, but I hardly wrote any work of fiction this year. I did, however, start this blog! So, I guess you could say I accomplished my goal 😄
Let me know if you decide to host your own ‘Goals Night’ Party in the comments below! You can use the hashtag #WBMSGoalsNight on instagram twitter so I can share them on my blog!

This is such a great way to create a space for goal making. I never considered something like this throughout the year but it actually makes a lot of sense to have little check in and reflection meeting. This sounds like a perfect way to bond with love ones and friends! Definitely want to try it out!
Thanks T. C.
