About Me
My name is T. C. Taylor and I am a lover of all things literary and good smelling. I’m a graduate of the University of Maryland- College Park, where I studied Criminology & African American Studies! I am currently a TSA Officer by day, and a reader/writer and DIY-er in my free time. Some of my favorite things to read are Contemporary Fiction and YA novels, but occasionally I’ll pick up a wild card or peruse the Self Help section of my local library. A perfect day for me would include book two of a really good series, whilst spread out under the sun (being next to any sort of body of water would be a plus), with a tropical scented candle and ANYTHING chocolate.
When Books Make Scents is an outlet for me to not only sharpen my writing skills, but to give my opinion on books and things going on in the literary community. As I said before, I am a lover of the smell goods, so most of my book reviews will be accompanied by a product that I have either made or bought that was influenced by what I read. My book reviews will not have spoilers unless stated otherwise.
Some of my favorite books (in no particular order) are :
Absolutely ANY book written by Ellen Hopkins
With the Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo
Cane River by Lalita Tademy
If You Can’t Be Free, Be A Mystery: In Search of Billie Holiday by Farah Jasmine Griffin
Coming of Age in Mississippi: An Autobiography by Anne Moody
Life on The Outside: The Prison Odyssey of Elaine Bartlett by Jennifer Gonnerman
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom
Dread Nation by Justina Ireland
I hope you enjoy reading my Blog just as much as I enjoy writing it! And feel free to contact me about reviewing your book, short story, or poetic piece!
